Kathryn Kohut
Fort McMurray, AB

Kathryn works as a Safety Advisor in the construction industry. Her hobbies include; running, horseback riding, wake boarding, dirt biking, fishing, reading, camping, chess and animals.

She believes education and awareness on this issue is key, so that all around the world, people can take the necessary steps to help reduce deforestation. There are many simple choices that we as individuals can make that would help, for example recycling and planting trees.

What makes Katheryn proud of being from Alberta? She says it's the beauty and diversity of the Alberta landscape and wildlife!

Miss Water Alberta 2014
Olivia Awad
Calgary, AB

Olivia works as a Branch Manager for Park Lane Jewellery. Her hobbies includes; Kickboxing/ Muay Thai, playing the clarinet and tenor sax, sewing clothing from scratch, scrapbooking.

She thinks the biggest problem facing our environment today is the need to reduce the usage of gas cars.

She suggests this could be done by having more electric cars on the road, car pooling, taking transit, cycling, etc. This can not only help reduce the emissions that are harmful to us and polluting the air, but it will also ease the flow of traffic on the roads, making it easier to maneuver around the City/ Province and potentially the Country.

What makes Olivia proud of being from Alberta? She says Alberta has such a great culture about it. We have the oil & gas industry, but we are also known for the Calgary Stampede and for our beef. When she was traveling overseas, She ate at a restaurant and asked where their beef was from and when they said Alberta She said that made her so proud! She feels Alberta is known for it's free spirit of the Stampede and is known for it's kind, easy going people and she couldn’t be more proud.

Miss Fire Alberta 2014
Shelvie F
Edmonton, AB

Shelvie works a Promotional Model and is studying Business Admiistration at NAIT.

Her hobbies include; fashion blogging, going on adventures, travelling, acting, dancing, photography, doing charitable events ane helping those who are in need.

She thinks the biggest problem facing our environment today is flash flooding.

Shelvie's contribution to solving this problem would start with her convincing the people of the community to practice proper waste disposal and stop littering. Having garbage everywhere could block the drainage system and could be a huge cause of flooding when the water is not flowing properly. Then she would go to the bigger part of the community, the officials, to convince them to be more strict about the Anti-illegal logging and anti-deforestation Law because the trees in the mountain and the forest are so important and If there are no trees to sip all the water from the rain then the water will flow directly to the city and it could be a huge disaster.
